The series centers on the misadventures of four vampire roommates and their human servant
Taika Waititi’s 2014 mockumentary ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ spawned a television series of the same name and both are extraordinarily hilarious. The series has been created by Jemaine Clement, who co-wrote the original film, and has received smashing success. And why wouldn’t it? After all, it’s not every day that you get to see the daily life of eccentric vampires. Fans of the series would, thus, be happy to know that the show is soon to be back for a second season.
‘What We Do in the Shadows’ Season 2 premieres on FX on April 15 at 10 pm ET/PT.
The series centers on the misadventures of Nandor (Kayvan Novak), Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), Laszlo (Matt Berry), and Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), four vampires who have been living together for hundreds of years. Nandor’s human servant Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) also lives with them. And together, they get into a lot of supernatural shenanigans.
Season 1’s end saw Guillermo discover that he is a descendant of Van Helsing, a fictional character from the 1897 gothic horror novel ‘Dracula’, who has been dubbed as a “vampire hunter” over many years of popular cultural retellings of the story, and worries if he is destined to kill the vampires. It is likely that Season 2’s story would focus more on Guillermo. Perhaps, he will use his newfound knowledge of his lineage to finally get them to turn him into a vampire, the only thing he really cares about. That, and their regular capers.
It’s expected that the main cast of Season 1 will all be returning.
Kayvan Novak as Nandor
The Persian British actor is best known for co-creating and starring in the comedy series 'Fonejacker' which ran from 2006 to 2008, and for his role as Waj in the 2010 comedy film 'Four Lions'.
Natasia Demetriou as Nadja
Demetriou, British stand-up comedian, actress, and screenwriter, entered showbiz with the movie 'You'll Never Have All of Me'. The role won her a Skinny Debutant Award at the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Matt Berry as Laszlo
The English actor, writer, and musician is best known for playing the lead role of Steven Toast in the Channel 4 sitcom 'Toast of London'. He has appeared on shows such as 'The IT Crowd’, ‘Garth Marenghi's Darkplace’, ‘The Mighty Boosh’, ‘Snuff Box’, ‘The Wrong Door’, and ‘House of Fools’.
According to , Mark Hamill will guest star in an episode, though information about his character hasn’t been announced. Per , even Haley Joel Osment is expected to have a cameo.
The trailer for Season 2 of ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ that dropped earlier this month sees the gang participating in their usual antics. The classic anti-humor of the vampires still remains that makes viewers hopeful for another hilarious installment.
We see Guillermo becoming a little more defiant, possibly in light of his newfound knowledge about his ancestry. And we also see Colin use bad jokes as a way to sponge energy from humans. All in all, the trailer is very indicative of yet another classic season.
