Kevin McCarthy 'likes reading' Dr Seuss Green Eggs and Ham, Internet calls him 'disingenuou

Dr Seuss Enterprises have recently announced that six books would no longer be published over racist imagery

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has been slammed by people across the Internet after he released a short clip of himself reading Dr. Seuss’ ‘Green Eggs and Ham’. The Republican captioned the video as, “I still like Dr Seuss, so I decided to read Green Eggs and Ham. RT if you still like him too!”

Dr Seuss Enterprises, the company that owns the rights to publish Dr Theodor Seuss Geisel’s works, has recently announced that six books would no longer be published over racist imagery. The names of those six books are ‘If I Ran the Zoo,’ ‘And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street’, ‘McElligot’s Pool,’ ‘On Beyond Zebra!,’ ‘Scrambled Eggs Super!’ and ‘The Cat’s Quizzer’.

Speaking about their “ceasing” decision, Dr Seuss Enterprises said: “Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families. Dr Seuss Enterprises listened and took feedback from our audiences including teachers, academics, and specialists in the field as part of our review process. We then worked with a panel of experts, including educators, to review our catalog of titles.”

But it appeared like through his video, McCarthy tried to blame “cancel culture” as well as Democrats for the ban. Soon after that, he had to face the wrath of people on the Internet as a user commented, “No one is upset about Green Eggs and Ham, you disingenuous dipshit. Here’s one of the books the Seuss estate decided not to publish anymore. If you so desperately need to read about Asians ‘with their eyes all a slant,’ buy the rights and print copies yourself.”

I still like Dr. Seuss, so I decided to read Green Eggs and Ham.

RT if you still like him too!

This clown makes almost 200K a year. Has time to goof off on Twitter, spread lies that cause an insurrection, travel to Mara-Lago, bow to Trump, but no time to travel to his district. McCarthy hasn't held an in person townhall in over a decade. Keep reading Kevin, you're funny.

Another user tweeted, “This clown makes almost 200K a year. And you are reading a fucking children’s book. Because your party stands for nothing. And this performative bullshit is all you know how to do.”

And you are reading a fucking children’s book.
Because your party stands for nothing.
And this performative bullshit is all you know how to do.

Dr. Seuss wasn’t “cancelled” by liberals.
Dr. Seuss’ Estate decided to stop publishing 6 books due to their overt racism.

Green Eggs and Ham was not one of them.

Qevin, you literally voted to Cancel the votes of 81 million legitimate voters.

He knows that the family decided on their own to cease publishing the books which contained insensitive material. He knows that Green Eggs and Ham wasn’t one of those books. Kevin knows all of that. But he doesn’t care.”

“Weird how you're reading the book nobody has a problem with that is still being published… and not reading the book with the racist passages that will no longer be published,” a user named @4everNeverTrump said while the second one added, “Dorothy, that’s not one of the books that the Seuss family stopped publishing (last yr).  They stopped 6 others with racist images & language.  I wasn’t familiar with them so I researched them, maybe you could consider doing the same? Their company, their decision, their right.”
